Therewere large carpet weaving quarters in the Vedi dis-
trict villages of Avshar, Turk gol, Agasli, Arazdeyen, Bay-
burt, Boyuk Vedi, Garalar, Develi,
Yengije, Kolanli, Taytan, Shidli,
Shirazli, and Shikhlar. Such quar-
ters also existed in the Gamarli
district of Garnibasar province.
Carpet weaving was also wide-
spread in the villages of Arpavar,
Bash Nali, Yamanjali, Mugamli,
and Sabunchu. Here, priority was
given to carpets,
namazligs
,
kilims
,
mefreshs
, and
chuls
.
“Cherkhi-felek” (the ups and
downs of life) and “goshaguyrum” (double-horned) el-
ements were commonly employed in the center of me-
dallions in carpets woven in Garnibasar and Vedibasar
provinces. Classic elements like rhombus, hooks, x- and
z-shapes, stepped edges, geometric figures, and other
motifs were used in weaving carpets in these provinces.
