16 dragons are reflected on the surface of this verni. Their shape
recalls the number 5 or the geometric figure of the letter «s.»
Eight of the dragons are crystal white (cotton fibers), while the
other group of eight is dark blue.
The graphic silhouette of the navy blue dragons represents white
zigzagging piles on a green background. Its tail and two heads are
white, green, and navy blue. The scales of the dragons are filled with
s-shaped elements on a red and green background with contrasting
boundaries.
The surface of the dragons on the white background is covered
with s-shaped elements with red, green, and mainly black boundaries.
The stylish image of a tree covered with leaves drawn on top of the
two heads of the dragons is considered to be the symbol of the Tree
of Life. Other geometrical elements located on the background of
dragons, including rhombic and horn-shaped elements reflect home
goods used in tents and daily life.
The colors of the dragons woven on the verni
are shown in a chessboard pattern and tend to
change horizontally and vertically.
Therefore, the colors of the dragons seem expressive and dynamic
and are clearly visible from a long distance.
The general design of the verni creates the imitation of silk due to
its colorful weft threads. It shows the professionalism of the skillful
master who made this carpet.
The verni is composed of two parts woven separately and then
attached to each other. The brilliant experience of the artist makes its
seam invisible. The fringes of this verni are done in a very attractive
manner and look like a net. A white-colored dragon mouth woven at
the top end of the verni has the following dates: 994 or 1299 Hijri.
