Old carpet masters and collectors call this zili Shahsavan. This
composition is taken from the name of the Shahsavan dynasty, famous
for sheep and cattle breeding and attracts the attention of many art
specialists and collectors around the world.
The field of the carpet on a dark red background represents small
geometric elements. Hook-shaped ornaments are located inside these
geometric elements. Local carpet makers call these elements goch
(ram) or buynuz (horn).
In the East and generally in Azerbaijan, the
figures of goch (ram) and buynuz (horn) are
interpreted as symbols of strength and might,
abundance, or evil eye catchers.
The ornament on the border of the red background repeats the
elements in the field and differs only in size.
The border is decorated with small ketebes (cartouches), hexagonal
stars, geometric elements, and x-shaped motifs.
The zili was woven using handmade threads of high quality,
colored with natural dyes.
