Historical context of Shirvan District carpet weaving groups. Shirvan’s
history is broad. However, when examined from the point of view
of carpet weaving, a situation unique from other historical-geog-
raphical districts of Azerbaijan is discovered. In light of that wide
range, Shirvan is represented by the three schools of carpet wea-
ving: Shirvan, Baku, and Guba. This wide-ranging history requires
close study of the carpet weaving groups’ formation. In this res-
