In the upper right corner of the car-
pet’s center field the date 1260 AH ap-
pears and the writing of Amir Ali can be
found in the left corner.
One incomplete and three whole me-
dallions are depicted in the center field
of this cornelian background carpet. The
incomplete medallion in the upper sec-
tion and the second whole medallion are
designed with green, purple, and white;
blue, cornelian, and purple are used for
the other two full medallions. There are
jutbuynuz (double-horned) motifs in the
upper and lower parts of the medallions.
Six-petal flowers, rhombic, and okh (ar-
row) elements are placed inside the cen-
ter medallions. Double rhombus and
okh elements decorate the inside of the
medallion in the lower part. To fill the
empty spaces in the middle field of the
carpet, six-petal flowers, eight-pointed
stars, eight-angle geometric elements,
and buta (almond-shaped) ornaments
are applied. The six-petal flowers are
designed using green with white, yel-
low with green, navy blue with white,
and purple colors. Yellow is used for
the square elements on the edges of the
purple buta in the center. Yellow, white,
light blue, and green square elements
are found on the edges of the purple
background butas at the top. Green and
sometimes yellow square elements are
used for the edges of the light blue butas.
Brown square elements are used for the
green butas. And finally, yellow square
elements are employed on the edges of
the green buta in the center. Eight-point-
ed stars are decorated with yellow, light
blue, white, purple, and yellow. The car-
pet’s main dark brown border is embel-
lished with eight-pointed medallions.
There are eight-petal flowers inside the
medallions. The flowers are adorned us-
ing yellow with red, white with green,
green with red, navy blue with yellow,
white with purple, yellow with navy
blue, light blue with purple, white with
red, green with light blue, and light
blue with red. For some flowers, how-
ever, only one color, yellow, purple, or
navy blue, is used. Different shaded su
(water) is employed on the edges of the
flower petals. The edges of the medal-
lions are completed with green stripes,
while the stripes are completed with red
su. The border is designed using light
blue stripes on both sides. The main bor-
der is surrounded by guard stripes on
both sides. The guard stripes are deco-
rated with wavy patterns of a cornelian
color. The waves are adorned with flow-
ers. The flowers are purple, cornelian,
light blue, yellow, and green. The edges
of the inside border are complemented
by purple su on the outside, and green
and brown on the inside. The outside
border is completed with purple su on
the inside and with cornelian and black
on the outside.
