This Gazakh group carpet was woven in 1949 in the Kotanli village of Vedi.
The main decoration on the navy blue background of the middle field consists of four large gyols (medallion). Hooked elements
are placed inside the gyols. There are square shaped elements decorated with navy blue, orange, yellow, cream, lilac, and sumac
in the center of the first, second, and fourth gyols. Sumac-colored hooks surround the edges of the gyols. The edges of the hooks
are completed with yellow su (water).
The empty parts of the middle field are enriched with hooked, rhombic, and dord unsur (four elements); s- and x-shaped ele-
ments; classic elements with stepped edges; and stylized human, camel, and other animal images. There are eight-pointed star
images along the main border of the carpet on a pale red background. The colors of the stars alternate, creating a special harmony.
The stars are designed using hues of yellow, navy blue, light red, sumac, light and dark green, white, cream, and lilac. On the
inside, the border is surrounded by yellow and navy blue borders, both narrow and wide, decorated with zigzag elements. On
the outside, the carpet has blue and black borders, also narrow and wide, decorated with zigzag elements. The upper part of the
internal narrow border uses yellow, brown, and dark green; the upper right and left parts of the wide border are designed using
