This carpet has a unique pattern de-
sign. It is called a namzalyg (prayer
rug). In the upper part of the carpet’s
middle field, on the right and left of
the mehrab (altar), the date 1267 AH is
divided into two parts. An acute angle
mehrab is depicted in the upper part
of the middle field. A blue rectangular
ornament and a white okh (arrow) or-
nament are placed inside the mehrab.
Inside the blue rectangle medallion, a
yellow rhombic element with its lower
part bulging in three directions can be
found. In the lower parts of the bulges
of this element pointing right and left,
four rhombic elements are depicted;
each is divided into four parts by black
lines.
Double buta (almond-shaped) motifs
are depicted everywhere on the right
and left of the mehrab. The butas are
of raspberry color at the top and green
at the bottom. The edges of butas are
completed using red, white, and black
stripes. Inside the raspberry-colored
buta on the right, small white and blue
buta and rhombic elements are placed;
however, only rhombic elements are
placed inside other butas.
Flower and leaf motifs are fixed on
the branches in the gaps of the middle
field of the navy blue carpet. Flowers
and leaves are designed using red,
light blue, brown, light and dark green,
white, and pink. The middle field and
the edges of the mehrab are surround-
ed with raspberry-colored madakhils
with s-shaped motifs. The colors of the
elements in the middle field are also
used for the motifs in the madakhil.
The carpet’s main white border is
decorated using classic elements with
stepped edges. There are four-petal
cross-like motifs in the center of these
elements. The stepped elements are
depicted in orange, lilac, red, yellow,
green, light blue, and pink. The trian-
gular and rhombic motifs serve as filler
elements for the empty spaces of the
border. The colors of the stepped mo-
tifs are professionally coordinated with
the colors of the rhombic and acute-an-
gle elements.
The narrow border of the carpet is
depicted in light blue, black, and gray
mollabashi (chamomile) in the upper
parts of the center and with blue and
black mollabashi in the lower. The bor-
ders are completed with black, red, and
green su (water) on both sides.
