The artistic structure of the carpet consists of a rare thin central field
with a very broad primary border.
In the dark-blue background central field, three “gyols” (medallions) have been
placed one after another. The edges of “gyols” are angled with geometric form
and petals. Small hooked or “goshabuynuz” (two-horned) motifs unite the petals,
forming a fylfot shape. Black hooked motifs are formed on the inside united with
white “su” (water) on the outside.
On the center of the dark-blue background “gyol” there is a hexagonal element.
Geometrical elements have been embroidered using white, yellow, sumac, and black.
White and sumac-colored flowers and sumac-colored petals have been embroidered
on the edges of themedallion. There is a date at the lower part of themedallion placed
in the center and in the gaps of the central field. The primary cornelian background
border of the carpet has been decorated with elements called “chayniknishan”
(teapot) and “bagha” (tortoise) by art critics and weavers. These types of border
motifs occur on primary borders of carpets called “Herat Pirabadil,” “Zeyva” (Guba
group), “Gabala” (Shirvan group), “Daryanur,” “Baliq,” “Khangarvand” (Karabakh
group), “Tabriz,” “Heris,” “Lachakturunj,” and “Sarabi” (southern Azerbaijan).
Small, stepped-edge medallions were placed on the gaps of the primary border.
Other gaps have been decorated with clearly scalloped leaves and flower and leaf
motifs of different forms and sizes. Border motifs were embroidered with white,
dark-blue, yellow, cornelian, brown, ivory, and blue. The border motifs were joined
together by blue boughs.
The primary border of the carpet was encircled by yellow borders on the inside
and minor borders with light brown backgrounds on the outside. The minor borders
were decorated with wavy lines and small flowers.
The carpet has an original color design. Among the colors, cornelian, dark-blue,
yellow, light brown, and white dominate. Seven colors were used on the carpet. As
a result of the professional and harmonious color design, the various warm and cool
colors produce a beautiful design.
The pile and weft of the carpet are made of wool and the warp is made of cotton.
The storage condition of the carpet is adequate. The carpet is of artistic, historical,
and scientific importance.
