The artistic structure of this carpet consists of a central field and border. The main
decoration of this carpet’s middle field contains plant motifs that are arranged in
an incline or alternating vertically and horizontally. The central field of the carpet
has been designed with yellow padding and the motifs with cornelian, white, blue,
black, and turquoise. Vegetative motifs appear inside the scalloped-edge “shabaka.”
The four-petal flowers uniting the “shabaka” embroidered with white and black
vivify the general composition. “Buta,” s-shaped motifs, boughs with flowers, and
leaves embroidered with blue, cornelian, black, and white are depicted on the upper
and lower parts of the central field and on the right and left of the center.
The primary border of the white padding carpet has been ornamented with blue,
cornelian, turquoise, yellow, orange-red, and brown flowers. The primary border
has been covered by minor borders on both sides. Stepped triangle and hexagonal
elements have been embroidered inside the minor borders. The elements on the mi-
nor borders are separated from one another by white, blue, cornelian, light brown,
and turquoise lines. The inner minor border has been covered on the inside and the
outer minor border has been covered on the outside by barely visible white z-shaped
elements.
“Medakhil” embroidered with white, yellow, blue, brown, turquoise,
and cornelian four-petal flowers complete the outer and inner minor
borders.
This carpet is distinguished by its unique color design. The color of elements in-
side the “shabaka” is repeated in the colors of elements on the borders.
This carpet is included in the Shirvan carpets of high quality. The pile and warp
of the carpet are wool and the weft is cotton. The storage condition of the carpet is
excellent. The carpet is of artistic, historical, and scientific importance.
