ments were created on the basis of “Lechekturunj” cheshni and
curve line nabat patterns. “Heris” carpet demonstrated at “Vic-
toria and Albert” museum is one of the works of art including
these artistic features.
The artistic and technical features of the “Goravan” carpet
(named for the village near Heris) comply with the features of
the "Heris" carpet.
The middle of “Bakhshayesh” (this carpet was also called in
honor of the settlement near Tabriz) carpet as a rule has smooth
field. In former times this part was woven with camel wool.
But from the second part of 19
th
century this field had another
marker: blue and dark-red. Subordination of total area of the
carpet and the lake located in the central field to strict propor-
tionality endows the composition with balance and compact-
ness. The corners of middle edges providing central part and
margin edge are decorated with cross narrow stripes. This
artistic feature brings “Bakhshayesh” nearer to "Khila” and
“Surakhani” carpets of Baku group.
The basis of “Garaj” (this cheshni is called so in honor of Ga-
rajadag located in the northern-eastern part of Tabriz) compo-
sition is the order of gyol and on the tops of different shapes
existing in the middle of carpet. These carpets, whose artistic
designs consist of geometrical and curved patterns, are similar
to “Shirvan” carpets in their appearance. Usually, there is also
square cutting of “Garaj” having the longish form. The speci-
mens of “Garaj” carpet woven in 17
th
century are kept at the
General view of Tabriz.
