on the middle field are separated from one an-
other via chains of pink andwhite roses. On the
main black background border, there are twen-
ty white schemes. Inside the schemes there are
dark blue, pink, and blue eight-petal flowers.
The eight-petal flowers are surrounded by
brown, blue, and pink flowers as well. In the
gaps of the schemes, there are motifs known as
“bulud” (cloud). Some weavers describe these
motifs as a stylized dragon or snake. These
motifs are depicted in dark red and black “su”
complete their edges. In the gaps of the main
border there are pink, blue, dark red, light
brown, white-black, grey, and light green four-
petal medallions. Among the petals, flowery
and leafy branches spread and extend along
the gaps of the border. The main border is sur-
rounded from both sides with madakhils of
dark blue, green, red, and blue leaf-shapedmo-
tifs. The madakhils are completed with white
and brown “sichandishi”(mouse teeth) on the
inside and with black “su” on the outside.
The minor light green background border is
encircled by black madakhils with light brown
wavy lines on the inside anddarkbluemadakh-
ilswith blackwavy lines on the outside.Among
the waves there are flowers in dark red, light
green, white, and brown. The brick red narrow
borders are decorated with flowers and leaves
arranged in a vine-like pattern. The edges of
the border are completed with green and black
“su.” The edges of the carpet are encircled with
dark redmadakhils on the inside andwith blue
madakhils on the outside.
All the colors used in the carpet were dyed
with natural dyes and the yarn is hand-spun.
The carpet’s pile is woolen and its wrap and
weft are made of cotton. It has an artistic, his-
toric, and scientific importance. It is in excellent
condition.
