dallions there is a medallion with wavy edges and inside that medallion there is a tree with
a dark blue trunk and branches with ten-petal flowers and leaves.
On the both sides of the trees there are small trees with yellow trunks, dark blue branches,
and blue, orange, and light green flowers and leaves. The gaps of the medallion are filled
with flowery branches.
On top of the middle field, in the third medallion on the left, “fringed” willows, weeping
willows, and “Mejnun” willows are depicted. In ancient times, the weeping willow sym-
bolized love in the Near East, especially in the Caucasus, Iran, and India. Love scenes were
usually depicted under a willow tree on Eastern wallpapers and belles-lettres.
In the gaps of the medallion and around the trees, there are flowery branches. There are
flower descriptions called “beygulu” inside the fourth medallion from the top, the first on
the left, the second and sixth from the top, the third form the right, and the second from the
top. The branches of the flowers follow one another and cause a spectacular vision.
The dark red, pink, dark blue, blue, and yellow flowers and dark and light green leaves
were coordinated with one another and give the carpet a unique beauty and a lively ap-
pearance. The same motifs are repeated in the same background of the minor borders of
the carpet.
On the top of the middle field inside the third medallion from the top and the second and
fourth from the left, there are half-medallions resembling grapevines with stepped edges.
The trunk of the grapevine is designed in dark blue and orange and the leaves in light and
dark green. The gaps are filled with dark blue, pink, and brown flowers.
On the top of the middle field inside the first medallion to the left and the second from
the top, there are depictions of one large and six small trees. There are three-, four-, and
five-petal flowers on the trees. On
the lower corner of the medal-
lion, there are half-medallions.
There are also flowers in the
green background medallion. On
the left and right of the middle
field, there is a vase with a dark
red background inside the dark
blue medallions, which are on the
third row from the top. There are
blue, brown, red, ivory, and pink
roses and blue, dark green and
red flowers in the vase.
The ivory and light green
branches on the left and right
sides of the vase are reaching out.
On both sides of vase there are
flower trees with brown trunks.
The gaps of the medallion are
decorated with roses. In the blue
background medallion, which is
in the center of the middle field,
there is a ten-petal medallion.
From the upper and lower parts
of the medallion, flower branches
are spreading. In the medallion
there is another small, eight-
petal medallion. On each petal
of the six-petal medallion roses
are depicted. The coordination
of the yellow, red, light green,
dark blue, blue, and light brown
colors create a rich color palette.
The medallion takes the form of
the Sun. On the left and right of
the blue background medallion,
slightly below the center, there is
a dark blue-green medallion with
“buta” motifs.
