The date 1271 AH appears under the tree motif inside the middle brick red medallion in the upper section of the carpet.
Eighteen whole and fourteen incomplete hexagonal medallions are placed in the dark brown middle field of the car-
pet. The medallions are designed on the background of brick red, light green, yellow, white, and navy blue. The edges
of the medallions are navy blue, red, yellow, white, green, and light brown. There are tree motifs inside the medallions.
The tree motifs are depicted on the red background using yellow, green, white, and navy blue; on the green back-
ground the motifs use red, yellow, and white; on the white background they use green, navy blue, and red; and finally
on the yellow background they use navy blue, red, and green. Some weavers call these motifs budagbashi (branch top).
The budagbashi motifs are often encountered on Ganja and Gazakh carpets of Azerbaijan. The incomplete medallions
on the right and left in the lower and upper parts of the carpet complement the composition of the middle field.
