The date 1271 AH appears on the
lower left-hand section of the carpet.
The middle field of this red carpet is
divided into schemes. There are two
cream-colored and two green hooked
medallions inside the schemes. The
smaller hooked motifs are placed in-
side the medallions. The hooked mo-
tifs are designed using navy blue and
red in the medallions with a cream-
colored background; white, navy
blue, and red are used in the medal-
lions with green background. Small
white, navy blue, and green four-petal
flowers and white, navy blue, and yel-
low rhombic motifs fill the gaps of the
middle field. The edges of the schemes
are designed with dot-like motifs on
all sides. These motifs create a netlike
feel.
Themainborder of the cream-colored
carpet is designed using green, dark
red, and brown elements: navy blue
edges with hooked elements in the up-
per and lower parts and t-shaped ele-
ments on the sides. These elements are
designed using dark red, navy blue,
green, dark brown, and light green.
The gaps of the main border are filled
with small four-petal flowers. There
are rhombic elements inside the mo-
tifs of the border. The main border is
surrounded by guard stripes designed
using blue, dark brown, and navy blue
hooked motifs on the outside and red
and light green hooked motifs on the
inside. The edges of the borders are
surrounded by madakhils designed
with barely-visible cream-colored and
red z-shapedmotifs on the outside and
yellow and red z-shaped motifs on the
inside. The madakhils are completed
with brown su (water) on both sides.
The inside of the rhombic elements
are divided into four parts. These parts
are triangular and are designed using
navy blue with brown, white with
red, green with red, navy blue with
red, brown with red, dark brown with
light brown, and green with brown.
The alternating bright and harmon-
ic color arrangement and traditional
decorative composition of the carpet
provide a general scene with a special
vibrancy and expression.
