The date 1276 AH appears on the
left side at the bottom of the middle
field of the carpet.
An eight-pointed gyol (medal-
lion) is placed in the center of the
middle field of this light red back-
ground carpet. A jutbuynuz (dou-
ble-horned) motif appears in the
center of the medallion. The jut-
buynuz motif is designed inside a
rectangular medallion with white
edges and hooked bulges on four
sides. The edges of the gyol and
medallion are decorated with white
stripes complemented by red lines.
Blue background rectangular
gyols are depicted at the top and
bottom of the green background
gyol. The edges of the gyols are sur-
rounded by yellow stripes, which
are surrounded by red and brown
lines.
The jutbuynuz motifs are repeat-
ed inside the rectangular medal-
lions within the gyols.
Small rectangular medallions in
the empty parts of the carpet’s mid-
dle field are repeated at the top, bot-
tom, right, and left using the same
sizes and motifs. Jutbuynuz motifs
are depicted inside the medallions
and are designed using red on a
navy blue, yellow, and green back-
ground, or sometimes white on a
green background, or yellow on a
red background.
At the top left, the wide white
background border of the carpet is
decorated with navy blue and red
goshabuynuz (double-horned) and
hooked elements pointing towards
one another with bulges along the
edges on the right and left. The
empty parts of the carpet are filled
with small rhombic elements. The
edges of the border are enclosed
with madakhils designed using yel-
low and red square elements on the
inside and red and brown su (wa-
ter) on the outside. At the bottom of
the wide white background border
there are rectangular elements with
hooked edges.
The blue background border of
the carpet is decorated with brown
mollabashi (chamomile). The edges
of the mollabashi are completed
with red su. The narrow blue back-
ground border is surrounded by
madakhils on both sides adorned
with yellow and red square motifs.
With masterful technical skill, the
weaver created a very appealing
color palette using the harmony of
different colors.
