The field of this zili with a white background is decorated with
butas located successively in a chessboard manner. The butas have
s-shaped rhombic elements and darag (comb) elements between them.
Rhombic elements are said to turn away the evil eye while s-shaped
elements are interpreted as a sign of fire, water, strength, and might;
the darag (comb) elements symbolize moral purity. The top and
bottom of the field have images of quadruped animals. In spite of their
four legs, these stylized figures are interpreted as mythical birds. The
following colors were used in this zili: white, green, yellow, orange,
grey, light brown, red, and blue.
The middle border is decorated with classic elements specific to
the zilis of Karabakh. The colors of the border are in harmony with the
colors of the field and create a traditionally brilliant and contrasted
color palette.
The zili was woven using handmade threads of
high quality, colored with natural dyes.
