Borchaly areas are distunguished from other regions in
their preservation of original style of handicrafts. Carpet
weaving is the most predominant of handicrafts in this
region, and brought world fame to Gazakh. Carpet
manufacturing expanded widely in Gazakh in connection
with the high consumer demand in nearby Tbilisi and
Ganja. Carpets included in this group are recognized
by world art critics and collectors for their size, color,
density, technique, ornamental elements, type of wool,
composition of pigments, and other factors.
In addtion to incorporating general features of
Azerbaijani carpets, Gazakh-Borchaly group carpets
exemplify specific characteristics from the carpet weaving
settlements of this region.
