Borchaly region
The Borchaly region covers Bostandere,
Garayazi, Sarvan, Choruk Qamarli, Bashkechid,
Agbulag, Barmagsiz, Garachop and embodies
historical, geographic, and cultural unity. An
ancient Turkic settlement in Borchaly developed
as part of a great Azerbaijani culture and was
closely connected with the people living in
Irevan, Loru, Pambek, Shamshaddin, Gazakh,
Agstafa, and Tovuz.
Most of the area of Borchaly is covered by
mountains but one third of the region consists
of flat plains. Due to the long summer and
adequate winter pastures, cattle breeding,
grain agriculture, watermelon growing, and
silkworm breeding developed in Borchaly.
The area of the region consists of two-thirds
mountains (higher than 500 meters or foothill
areas) and one-third of plains and sloping
plains. The region is covered by the hills of the
Yagilca low massifs in the north, the forest of
Somkhet Dash in the west, and the Babekar
Mountain Range in the south. The region is
divided from the Garayazi fields in the east by
the Kur River. The development of irrigation
systems and the rivers that flow throughout
the region have a positive effect on the natural
conditions.
The climate of Borchaly is very diverse.
The winter is cold, the spring is warm and
sometimes rainy, the autumn is rainy and
cold, and the summer is cloudy and mild or
occasionally very hot. The unequal distribution
of climate zones in the region has influenced
the landscape and soil in the plains and
foothill areas of the region. The year-round
rain in mountainous areas and the sufficient
