merchant Muhammad Bayramov lived in the

village of Arikhli and was known as a carpet

connoisseur. His professional knowledge

of Azerbaijani carpets helped him obtain

prominance in the Tbilisi bazaar. Gazakh-

Borchaly carpets were quite expensive in the

carpet shops of “Sheytan” bazaar. The merchant

Ismayil from the village of Sarachli in Borchaly

raised the profile of carpets of this region and

arranged to sell them at the bazaar.

The main weaving settlements of Borchaly

were Shahmarli, Safarli, Hamamli, Gachagan,

Lambali, Garayazi, Arikhli, Nazarli, Sarachli,

Garachop, Dallar, and Qizilhajili.

The Gazakh-Borchaly group of Azerbaijani

carpets is part of Azerbaijani culture and

represents some of the main handicraft

characteristics. Carpet samples are being woven

even today in Borchaly as one of the ancient and

historical places of Azerbaijan. These carpets

diligently preserve the great cultural heritage

of Azerbaijan. The pile and flat weave carpets

of Gazakh, Tovuz, Agstafa, and Borchaly are

rare pearls in the cultural heritage not only

of Azerbaijan but of the whole world. Today

samples of the Gazakh-Borchaly carpet group

are housed in famous museums throughout the

world, in decorative-applied art galleries, and

in collections of prominent carpet specialists.

These carpets have become representatives of

Azerbaijani culture and hold an honorable place

in the world’s cultural heritage.

КогдаговоримоковрахГазах-Борчалинскойгруппы,перед

глазами встают опирающиеся на славные исторические

традиции и большой путь творческого развития изящные,

разноцветные ковры, занимающие достойное место

в ряду мировых жемчужин. В Газахскую группу ковров

входят изделия, сотканные в селах нынешних Газахского,

Агстафинского, Товузского районов и Борчалинского

махала (включая Гараязы и Башкечид). Культурные и

экономические факторы, связывающие эти регионы

и проявляющиеся также в технике ковроткачества,

оформлении и содержании узоров, явились основой для их

объединения и исследования в составе единой группы.

çid ilə birgə) ərazisində toxunan xalçalar da-

xildir. Sadalanan bölgələri bir-birinə bağlayan

mədəni, siyasi, iqtisadi amillər xalça toxuma

texnikasında və onun naxış tərtibatında da bir

sıra mühüm oxşaqlırlar yaratdığından, onlar

bir qrup şəklində tədqiqata cəlb olunmuşlar.
