The date 1279 AH appears on the top right of
the carpet’s middle field.
The composition of the carpet consists of a
middle field and border. A large gyol (medal-
lion) is placed on the red background center
field. A white rectangular medallion is depict-
ed inside the large green background gyol. The
edges of the medallion are surrounded by red
goshabuynuz (double-horned) motifs. Small
classic elements with stepped edges in white
and green on the right, yellow and blue on the
left, or an eight-pointed star are depicted inside
the small rectangular element in the center of
the medallion. The edges of the rectangular ele-
ment are encircled with yellow, red, and white
sichandishi (mouse teeth) and blue and red
zigzags. The empty spaces of the green back-
ground gyol on the right, left, top, and bottom
are filled with classic stepped elements and
classic rectangular elements designed using
goshabuynuz, elements that are reminiscent
of ancient Greek motifs. A white background
border decorated on the inside with an eight-
pointed star, rhombic elements, and elements
with stepped edges surround the edges of the
gyol. Ersin-like elements are depicted along
the bulges at the top and bottom of the gyol,
among the motifs pointing right and left. The
hooked elements are designed using a sichan-
dishi-like arrangement. Goshabuynuz motifs
are depicted inside the empty spaces in the
corners of the carpet’s middle field while the
edges are completed with mollabashi (cham-
omile) and sichandishi. The same motifs are
repeated in other parts of the middle field. In
the gaps of the middle field, s-shaped elements
and elements with stepped edges are clearly
noticeable. The blue background middle bor-
der of the carpet is decorated with hooked ele-
ments adorned using red, cream, and yellow.
These elements are designed in yellow and
red. On both sides, yellow background guard
stripes decorated with eight-pointed stars and
s-shaped elements surround the middle bor-
der. The eight-pointed stars and s-shaped ele-
ments are illustrated in red, yellow, light blue,
blue, and green. The edges of the guard stripes
are completed with white and red sichandishi.
The professional color design of the carpet
generates a delightful view.
