The date 1282 AH appears in the center
of the carpet’s middle field. This carpet has
a very specific compositional structure.
A large dark red gyol (medallion), with its
top and bottom mehrab-shaped (shrine), is
placed in the middle of the carpet. Twelve
rhombic medallions arranged alternately
are depicted inside the gyol. The edges of
the navy blue medallions are designed us-
ing yellow, white, red, and brown su (wa-
ter). The edges of the brown background
medallions are decorated with white, red,
black, and yellow su and the yellow and
blue background medallions are decorated
using red and brown. In the center on the
right and left of the medallions, there are
sheep images designed with white and
black or yellow and brown. White zigzags
decorate the edges of the brick red back-
ground gyol. The zigzags are completed
with su. There are small navy blue rhom-
bic medallions in the blue field corners of
the carpet. Yellow and red su decorate the
edges of the medallions.
A wide navy blue border encloses the
middle field of the carpet. There are red,
white, yellow, and green rhombic medal-
lions inside the border. The border is sur-
rounded by white and red square madakh-
ils on the inside and yellow and red square
madakhils on the outside. The edges of
the madakhils are surrounded with dark
brown su.
The wide white background border of
the carpet is adorned with stylized motifs
reminiscent of birds standing face-to-face.
These motifs are designed in navy blue
and light blue, but the edges are decorated
with red su. The outer border is decorated
with dark red, yellow, and white t-shaped
elements.
White and red square madakhils com-
plete the border outside, while yellow and
red square madakhils complete the border
inside. From the inside, a narrower border
with a green setting surrounds the white
background border. Red wavy lines are
depicted inside the border. The rhythmic
view of the carpet is enhanced by yellow
four-petal flowers between the waves on
the right and left; red, navy blue, and yel-
low four-petal flowers at the bottom; and
some over the bottom; and navy blue, yel-
low, and white four-petal flowers at the
top. Red su encircles the border on both
sides. The wide navy blue background
border of the carpet is surrounded with
a narrow brown border designed using t-
shaped motifs. The edges of the border are
completed with yellow-red madakhils in-
side and white-red madakhils outside. The
edges of the madakhils are designed with
brown su. The edges of the carpet are de-
signed using a braiding method with red,
yellow, and brown yarn.
