The date 1290 AH appears on the brown background inside the incomplete rhombic element at the
bottom of the carpet.
This carpet reflects the motifs depicted in the art pieces belonging to the pre-Christian era. The main
decoration of the middle field of this brown background carpet consists of rhombic elements arranged
symmetrically one after the other. Thirty-two whole and twenty partial rhombic gyols (medallions) are
located in the middle field of the carpet. Inside these rhombic gyols, hooked motifs are depicted. Hooked
elements are employed widely on salt bags belonging to the 15th century. This element, considered an
ornament exclusive to carpets, has an identical analogue in the structural principle of ceramics belong-
