of changal (fork). These motifs look like comb elements. The narrow borders in the upper and lower parts of the carpet are depicted
with incomplete rhombic medallions. The medallions have orange, light blue, dark brown, dark and light red backgrounds. Incomplete
shamdan motifs are designed inside the medallions. S-shaped, four-petal flowers, and other small elements are depicted on the motifs
with bulged edges that point towards the border walls of the carpet. The border motifs specific to Karabakh carpets have been widely
applied on Iravan carpets. This type of carpet does not have a compositional center and this allows weaving of the same motifs in dif-
ferent colors and sizes. As a result of alternating the colors of the motifs inside and on the background of the similar rhombic gyols on
the carpet, an attractive pattern range and dynamic and rhythmic compositional structure has been produced. The rhombic elements
on the carpet look vivid and expressive on the white background. The dark and bright color arrangements complement each other and
the decorative composition is designed with great professionalism.
