The carpet has a rich central field
and border structure. A large blue
medallion with scalloped edges and
two small hexagonal medallions are
depicted in the yellowish light brown
central field. There is a bright red me-
dallion in the center of the blue medal-
lion. There are light green, white, and
blue flowers, as well as dark and light
green foliage motifs inside the medal-
lion. The flowers trimmed with deep
red, pink, and yellow are depicted on
the edges of the medallion. The flower
motifs have been combined together
with dark red branches.
There are orange and green six-pet-
al flowers, red-green eight-petal flow-
ers, and red-green leaves in the white
medallion in the upper section. A de-
piction of a tree can be found inside
the deep blue medallion in the lower
section.
The blank spaces of the central field
have been trimmed with four-, five-,
six-, eight-, and ten-petal flower mo-
tifs.
Square medallions are depicted in
the upper, lower, and central areas of
the central field.
There are “mujru” (box) or “sandig”
(box, chest) motifs in the blank spaces
and middlemost areas of the central
field. The “sandig” motif represents
the state of marriage. The square,
“mujru” or “sandig” motifs, and the
flowers have been trimmed with blue-
crimson, deep blue-pink, ivory-deep
blue-pink, dark red-deep blue, light
green-light brown, white-deep blue,
red-green, white, ivory, and white-
ivory-deep blue colors. The motifs of
the central field are combined togeth-
er with a dark green, light green, and
ivory dense and sparse net-like pat-
tern. The net-like patterns resemble
the Kufic inscriptions on the Momina
Khatun Tomb.
The red border of the carpet has
been decorated with “gaychibalig”
and four- and six-petal flower motifs.
The flower motifs have been trimmed
with blue-white-red-light brown,
white-light green-crimson, blue-light
brown-crimson, light green-crimson-
light brown, and white-red colors,
while the “gaychibalig” motifs have been trimmed with blue-light brown-red
and white-blue colors. The edge is internally surrounded by borders trimmed
with crimson-blue hook-like motifs. The external border finishes on both sides
and the internal border finishes externally in white and deep red broken lines.
The internal border has been surrounded with crimson “su” (water) elements.
The hook-like motifs in some parts of the external border have been trimmed
with deep blue and red colors.
The edges of the carpet have been decorated with a braiding technique in light
green, deep blue, blue, light brown, crimson, yellow, and dark red colors.
