The carpet is included in the Guba group. It was woven in Lower Zeyid village,
Khachmaz region. The carpet preserves the artistic and technical traditions of the
area where it was woven. Its weaving style is very fine with a high knot density wo-
ven from wool colored with natural dyes.
The carpet consists of a central field and border strip. The border strip contains
three sections. Two parallel madakhil strips have geometrical structures. The strip
of the major border has been trimmed with geometrical elements. The foliage depic-
tions are geometrical and stepped with a tool-like element woven among them. The
central field of the carpet has been trimmed with geometrical elements in diagonal,
horizontal, and vertical directions. The Guba region has a rich geographical nature.
From this point of view, it is possible to observe flowers and foliage elements of-
ten on the carpets woven in Guba. The weavers have a tradition that describes the
nature surrounding them on the carpets. From this point of view, the flower element
woven on the carpet is in only one form with the only difference being in the colors
chosen. Yellow, red, and ivory hues are commonly used.
All colors used in the carpet are from natural dye plants. The dyes are produced
from pomegranate, apple rinds, indigo, liquorice, and other plants and the colors
have remained fresh after many centuries.
No repair or restoration work has been conducted on the carpet. The carpet is in
excellent condition. The carpet is of artistic, historic, and scientific importance.
