The date 1320 AH appears in the
upper left part of the carpet. This
standard-sized carpet has a very rich
compositional structure. A large white
background gyol (medallion) is placed
in the center of this red background
carpet. A rhombic element designed
with blue and red appears in the cen-
ter of the gyol. The edges of this ele-
ment are represented in white su (wa-
ter) and divided into four parts by su
of the same color. The edges of the
rhombic element are surrounded with
red and brown motifs. The hooked
motifs are depicted on the yellow
background and are clearly noticeable.
There are twenty-four hooks designed
in red and blue along the edges of the
yellow background. The edges of the
central medallion are completed with
thirty-eight green hooks. In the upper
and lower parts of the medallion in
the middle field, twelve elements de-
signed in yellow contribute to the vi-
brant beauty of the carpet. The insides
of these elements are divided into four
parts. The edges of the rhombic motifs
are completed with green su. Similar-
sized hooked motifs are depicted on
the right and left of the carpet’s middle
field near the corners using blue, red,
and green. Classic elements specific to
Gazakh carpets are represented at the
top and bottom of the carpet. The col-
ors of these elements change with the
width of the carpet, creating a special
harmony. These elements are designed
in red, white, green, yellow, and blue.
The empty spaces of the carpet’s mid-
dle field are filled with s-shaped rhom-
bic, goshabuynuz (double-horned),
floral, stylized dog, dordbuynuz (four-
horned), and gozgaytariji motifs. On
the left side of themiddle field there are
stylized human depictions designed in
green and black, as well as heads and
feet directed along the width of the
carpet. The middle white background
border of the carpet is decorated with
bird-like elements standing face-to-
face. Arrow-like elements are depicted
between these elements. The middle
field is surrounded with light green
borders on the inside and blue back-
ground borders on the outside. The
borders are adorned with white, red,
and yellow flowers and are completed
with red su. Madakhils designed in
yellow and red enclose the borders
from right and left. The edges of the
madakhils are designed with black su.
The color design of the carpet has been
solved with high professionalism and
traditional harmony.
