The date 1320 AH appears inside
the rectangular medallion in the
center of the carpet. This carpet was
woven on the basis of Gazakh’s
“Demirciler” composition.
A large navy blue background
gyol (medallion) with a mehrab-
shaped (shrine) top and bottom is
placed in the middle field of this
carpet that has brick red back-
ground. A large geometric rect-
angular medallion occurs in the
center of the gyol. Two brown
background rectangular elements
are depicted inside the medallion.
Buynuz (horn) and t-shaped motifs
designed with blue and red appear
on the edges of these elements. The
empty spaces in the mehrab area of
the gyol are filled with jutbuynuz
(double-horned), rhombic, eight-
pointed, four-petal cross-like flow-
ers with hooked edges, and “evil
eye catcher” motifs.
There are pairs of tree images in
the empty spaces of the middle
field at the top and bottom of the
large medallion in the center. The
edges of the medallion are sur-
rounded with light brown back-
ground stripes designed with s-
shaped motifs inside. These stripes
are completed with red su (water)
on the outside and white and red
incomplete lines and red su on the
inside.
The empty spaces of the carpet’s
middle field are designed in navy
blue, yellow, white, and brown
hooked motifs on the right and left
of the mehrab and at the top and
bottom.
The edges of the large blue back-
ground gyol are surrounded with
white background stripes designed
with red and navy blue zigzag-
shaped wavy lines.
The main white background bor-
der of the carpet is decorated with
gaychibalig and gadah-like (gob-
let) motifs. These motifs are rep-
resented in brown, red, and navy
blue. Yellow and red partial lines
and brown su complete the main
border on both sides. Guard stripes
designed with blue and red mol-
labashi (chamomile) motifs out-
side and brown background guard
stripes decorated inside with s-
shaped red motifs surround the
main border. The guard stripes
are designed with yellow, red, and
white with red incomplete lines on
the outside. The colors of the ele-
ments of the carpet’s middle field
are repeated on the border ele-
ments producing a very beautiful
vision.
