Carpet. Wool, pile weave. 416x91. 1850.
Nakhchivan Group. Azerbaijan.
The major border of the carpet is trimmed with brick red, blue, turquoise, yellow, ivory, and dark red sloping stripes.
There are spiral-formed motifs inside the stripes. These motifs are found in the carpets of the Shirvan group, catchalls, and
carpetbags. The edges of the stripes finish in white and red barely visible square elements. The middle border is outlined
with minor borders trimmed with four-petal flowers on both sides. The flowers are depicted inside the hexagonal elements.
Four-petal flowers appear in white, red, blue, yellow, turquoise, and ivory colors.
The edges of the minor borders are trimmed with white barely visible square motifs on both sides.
From the standpoint of color, the traditional palette is clear in the carpet. A very pleasant color scheme has been created
using multiple tints. Brick red, turquoise, dark red, ivory, blue, yellow, and white coordinate successfully. The transition
from one color to other merges professionally.
The pile and warp of the carpet is wool and the weft is cotton. The carpet is of artistic, historical, and scientific importance.
